October 2010 in Pine Rivers, Redcliffe & Caboolture

  • 12 August to 31 October 2010- Summers Past - The showcase of photographs from the National Archives of Australia vividly reminds us of Australians' endurng love affair with the sea. For those who grew up in Australia in the 1950s and 1960s, these photographs should gently stir memories of idyllic summers spent at the beach. Pine Rivers Heritage Museum Old Petrie Town Dayboro Road Whiteside. 
  • Throughout October 2010 - Ocsober - A fundraising program that challenges Australians to cut out alcohol for the month of October. Participants can enter individually or as part of a team. Funds raised will go to Life Education Australia to help educate children about health, drugs, and alcohol. Register online.
     
  • 9 & 10 October 2010 - October Orchid Show - Hosted by the Bribie Island Orchid Society. Entry is $4, which includes morning or afternoon tea. Entry is $3.50 for groups of 10 or more. Open Saturday 9 October from 9.00 am to 4.00 pm and Sunday 10 October from 9.00 am to 2.30 pm. The show will be held in the Student Centre, Bribie Island State High School, First Ave, Bribie Island. 
     
  • 13 October (Wednesday) 2010 - The Heritage Talks: The Lang Park Redevelopment - Hear how archaeologists unearthed the old cemetery before the new Lang Park Stadium could be built at Milton.   • TBC October 2010 - Teddy Love Club Field of Angels Appeal - The Teddy Love Club provides support for bereaved parents, family, and friends who have suffered the loss of their baby to miscarriage, stillbirth, genetic induction, or neo natal death. Each October TLC hosts the Field of Angels Appeal to ensure the continuation of these services. Visit the website to make a donation.
     
  • TBC October 2010 - National Walk to Work Day - Walk all or part of the way to work in order to achieve better health and cleaner air. Sign up today to become a Walking Class Hero or Corporate Ambassador - register at The Pedestrian Council.
