Fun With Weights and Measures - From hogsheads to macaroni
noodles, yards of beer to knitting needles, rods to roods, and pinches
and pitches. The strange ways we have measured capacity, distance,
weight, time, currency, temperature and quantity. Pine Rivers Heritage

- 1 May (Saturday) 2010 - Discover 4017 - Ferguson
Park in Bracken Ridge (behind Bracken Ridge Library) will come alive
from 4pm to 7pm with the Discover 4017 Festival. This free event aims to
encapsulate everything great about Bracken Ridge, with live music, free
BBQ, rides, art and craft and great food. The youth running this event
range from 16yrs to 19yrs and are proudly supported by Brisbane City

Lavender for Leukaemia, Lymphoma and Myeloma Campaign -
Loads of lovely lavender products will be available in shopping centres
and selected businesses throughout May with the proceeds to benefit
patients and their families living with blood cancer. The fragrant
lavender flower was chosen as it symbolises healing, cleansing and
longevity. The lavender themed merchandise will include fluffy teddy
bears, lapel pins, potpourri and soaps. The Leukaemia Foundation hopes
to raise $150,000 through this appeal to fund further research and
practical support services for patients and their families that will
ease the emotional and financial burdens that come with a blood cancer
diagnosis.

- Presented by the Pine Rivers Musical Association, PRIMA. Performances
on 7, 8, 14, 15, 21 & 22 May at 8:00pm and 2.30pm matinee on 16 May.
Held at the Holy Spirit School Auditorium, Sparkes Road, Bray Park.

Birman Cat Club
Annual Cat Show - at the school hall, Bracken Ridge State High
School, Barfoot Street, Bracken Ridge. There will be two International
judges, one from Belarus and one from South Africa, as well as
Australian judges from Queensland and New South Wales. 150+ feline
entries in categories of longhair, shorthair and companion competing in
kitten, cat and de-sexed classes. Entry fees are $2 for Adults, $1 for

Redcliffe Kitefest 2010 -
Presented by the
Redcliffe Kite Club. Each year Redcliffe Kitefest attracts crowds in
excess of 30,000 to see the spectacle of colour and excitement. The kite
displays are supported by a large array of Craft & Market Stalls, Food
Stalls and Amusement Rides, making the event a great family affair and

annual fundraiser for the Royal Children’s Hospital Foundation, the
fundraising arm of Queensland's Royal Children's Hospital.
Gather a team of 15, or join a pre-exisiting team, and take 10,000
steps a day for two weeks to walk the equivalent of climbing to the
summit of Mt Everest.

St Paul's School Jazz on the Lawn - Join us as we
spend a lazy autumn day relaxing on the lawn, listening to great jazz
and enjoying gourmet picnic foods and wines. Entry is free, and guests
are invited to bring a picnic blanket and enjoy music from award winning
school jazz bands, while enjoying gourmet cheeses, sausages, kebabs and
other delights. A licensed area will also be available, including a wine
bar. Entertainment will be provided by the St Paul's School Big Band,
Brisbane State High School Big Band, St Paul's School Stage Band and
Matthew Flinders Anglican College Big Band.

Annual Dayboro Day Festival, incorporating Dayboro Antique &
Collectable's Fair The main street in Dayboro comes alive
every year on the last Sunday in May. The day begins with a combined
churches service at 8am, followed by the Grande Street Parade at 10am
and Opening Ceremony. The main streets are lined with fantastic street
stalls showcasing homemade jams, lollies and cakes; heaps of crafts;
local group displays; Police and Ambulance displays; and lots of food.
There is also the Great Dayboro Day Debate Debacle, Wacky Wheelbarrow
Relay, Pineapple Pie Eating Competition and Helicopter Rides over the
district. For the Kids there is the ‘Passport to Fun’ which will take
them up and down the main street looking for clues and prizes and an
animal farm as well as other great activities. FREE PARKING is available
at the Dayboro Show Grounds and a FREE SHUTTLE BUS service operates
throughout the day, ferrying passengers between the Show grounds and the
township, as the main roads will be closed from 8:30am to 3:30pm
