July 2009 in Pine Rivers, Redcliffe & Caboolture

  • Throughout July 2009 - Cancer Council Call to Arms - An annual, national event to raise funds and awareness of cancer, a disease that effects 1 in 2 men by age 85. To participate, nominate any day in July to host a Call to Arms match where the players in your sporting club wear a yellow armband in a show of support to men who have survived cancer, those currently facing the cancer fight and to remember mates who have lost their lives to cancer. All funds raised go to the Cancer Council. Any sporting club can join, so register by 26 June, contact 1300 65 65 85.
     
  • 4 July (Saturday) 2009 - Taste & C Wine Tasting and Concert - Taste locally grown and produced wine while raising funds for Mission Watoto. There will also be live entertainment. Tickets are $25 and includes a light supper. 7.00pm at the Centenary Lakes Caboolture Function Centre. For bookings contact Pete on 0427 952 721.
     
  • 5 July (Sunday) 2009 - Guide Dogs Queensland Open Day - Visitors get a behind-the-scenes look at how Guide Dogs are trained, see puppies of all ages and learn more about vision impairment, the mobility aids and services the association provides to Queenslanders. 10.00am to 3.00pm at 1978 Gympie Rd, Bald Hills.
     
  • 5 to 12 July 2009 - NAIDOC Week
     
    • 3 July (Friday) 2009 - Flag Raising Ceremony - An annual event presented by the Moreton Bay Regional Council. The theme for 2009 is: Honouring our Elders, Nurturing our Youth. With a three flag raising ceremony, morning tea, meet and greet with local Gubbi Gubbi Elders, and live entertainment. A free event. 10.00am to 12.00pm at the forecourt, Town Square, King St. Caboolture.
       
  • 10 to 12 July 2009 - Dayboro Show - The 54th annual Dayboro Show will be held at the Memorial Grounds, Mt Mee Rd, Dayboro.
     
  • 10 to 12 July 2009 - 40th Anniversary Caboolture Orchid Society - Free entry. Open Friday and Saturday from 9.00am to 5.00pm and Sunday from 9.00am to 2.30pm at the Memorial Hall, King St, Caboolture.
     
  • 11 & 12 July 2009 - Abbey Medieval Festival - The largest authentic medieval event in Australia. It spans a thousand years from Europe's Dark Ages to the High Middle Ages, roughly AD 600 to 1600. Abbey Place, off Old Toorbul Point Road, Caboolture.
     
  • 11 & 12 July 2009 - Heritage Fair - Miniature train rides, authentic historical displays, period costume enactments, antique engines and machinery and more. Entry is $10 for adults, $8 for concession and $2 for children. Saturday from 9.30am to 4.30pm and Sunday from 9.30am to 3.00pm at the Caboolture Historical Village, 280 Beerburrum Rd, Caboolture.
     
  • 14 July (Tuesday) 2009 - School Term 3 Begins - Monday is a holiday (see AU school holidays)
     
  • 15 July (Wednesday) 2009 - State of Origin - Game Three at 8:00pm at Suncorp Stadium, Brisbane. (See State of Origin)
     
  • 17 to 19 July 2009 - Farm Fantastic - Entry is $12 for adults, $10 for seniors and free for children under 14. 530 Rutters Rd, Caboolture.
     
  • 18 & 19 July 2009 - Tertiary Studies Expo (TSXPO) - All Queensland Universities will be represented plus some interstate and overseas ones, government agencies, defence forces, private colleges and loads more. Free entry. 10:00am to 4:00pm at the Exhibition Building, RNA Showgrounds, Brisbane.
     
  • 18 & 19 July 2009 - Samford Show - There will be helicopter rides, fireworks, horse events, pig races, a ute show, a pet parade and more. Gates open at 8.00am. Samford Showgrounds, Showgrounds Dr, Highvale.
     
  • 18 to 31 July 2009 - Leukaemia Foundation Doorknock Appeal - Volunteers will be doorknocking to raise vital funds for the five Queenslanders diagnosed each day with leukaemias and related blood disorders. Funds collected will go towards research and supporting patients and their families.
     
  • 19 July (Sunday) 2009 - Jetty to Jetty Fun Run - The run starts and finishes at the Belvedere Hotel, Woody Point. Genesis Half Marathon (21km) will also be included.
     
  • 25 July (Saturday) 2009 - National Nanna's Night - Organised by Mercy Health. The event aims to raise awareness about Australia’s ageing population, future health needs and the need for care and inclusion of the aged.
     
  • 30 July to 9 August 2009 - The Brisbane International Film Festival
     
  • 31 July (Friday) 2009 - Schools Tree Day 2009 - Register your school with Planet Ark.
     
  • 31 July to 2 August 2009 - Pine Rivers Show at Lawnton Showgrounds. The Pine Rivers Show offers children FREE entry on the Friday of the show before 4pm.
