The region is north of Brisbane, Queensland - close enough for many residents to commute to Brisbane, far enough to enjoy semi-rural and coastal lifestyles and a wide range of landscapes and activities. With Brisbane to the south, Moreton Bay to the east, the Sunshine Coast to the north, the combination of location and affordable housing makes this region one of the fastest growing in Australia. Many residents commute to Brisbane by train or car. Pine RiversThe South Pine River marks Brisbane's northern border between Bald Hills and the commercial and government centre of Pine Rivers at Strathpine. The Brendale Industrial Estate provides local employment and picturesque Pine Rivers Park is popular with families and larger groups. Pine Rivers Shire extends to the west and includes urban and rural areas in the Hills District, Samford, Mount Glorious and Dayboro. To the east, is the Bruce Highway and development at North Lakes. The Pine River meets Moreton Bay at Dohles Rocks. Redcliffe CityThe City of Redcliffe is on a 37 square kilometre peninsula. You can get to Redcliffe by road from the south by crossing the Hornibrook Highway (the longest bridge in the southern hemisphere), west from Pine Rivers and Caboolture along Anzac Avenue or from the north through Deception Bay. There is no rail access to Redcliffe even though locals have been fighting for one for many years. The population is about 50,000 but more than 1 million tourists visit the city every year. These are mainly day trippers from Brisbane and the surrounding area. In recent years a number of high-rise units have been catering for commuters and holiday-makers. The front at Redcliffe has excellent footpaths, cycleways and children's playgrounds. Redcliffe City contains the suburbs of Redcliffe, Clontarf, Kippa-Ring, Margate, Rothwell, Scarborough, and Woody Point. Caboolture RegionCaboolture region is north of Pine Rivers and spans from Bribie Island to the east to the scenic D'Aguilar Ranges, Woodford and Mount Mee to the West. The Bruce Highway and rail line run north through the heavily populated areas of Morayfield and Caboolture. Bribie Island has the first surf beaches north of Brisbane as well as sheltered beaches of Moreton Bay and Pumicestone Passage. Pine Rivers and Caboolture, indeed all Queensland, operate on Eastern Standard Time which is 10 hours ahead of GMT. Summertime, or Daylight Saving, is not observed.
